Hello ladies.. ^^
Disclaimer: before you read this, you must keep in your mind that it is pure my opinion. And people are free to express their opinion.
I am not the type who love watching opera soap (read: sinetron) or television. My mom said, "Even though there is a TV in her room, Lala is just barge in and sleep in the room. She never watch TV". It is not that I don't like watching, I do love watching movies. But movies or tv series in television is more ads than the movies itself. And I don't like watching ads. Not to mention nowadays there are more monotone or boring program in the television. FYI, I don't subscribe for cable TV like indovision and more because I seldom watch TV. It is such a waste..
But I do love movies. So my alternative is watching dvd in my computer. Besides movies, I love watching TV series. I used to watch a lot of tv series, but since there are a lot that I am keeping up that make me confuse, I cut it until there are just 2 series that I am keeping up. It is "The Vampire Diaries" and "Being Human".
1. The Vampire Diaries
From Wikipedia:
The Vampire Diaries is a supernatural drama television series developed by Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec, based on the book series of the same name written by L. J. Smith. The series premiered on The CW Television Network on September 10, 2009. The series takes place in Mystic Falls, Virginia, a fictional small town haunted by supernatural beings. The main focus of the series is the love triangle between the protagonist Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) and vampire-brothers Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) and Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder).
As the narrative develops in the course of the series, the focal point
shifts on the mysterious past of the town involving Elena's malevolent doppelgänger Katherine Pierce and the family of Original Vampires, all of which have an evil agenda of their own.
Now they are in their 4th season. One season consists of 22 episodes. I started watching is since Twilight's novel is booming in my senior year. I love twilight's story, but for me the movie is not so good. I don't know, IMHO it is because K-Stewart lack of expression and the representation of the Cullens that not match of my imagination. And I found this tv series which match of my imagination of vampire: beautiful, mysterious, but also dangerous. I think Paul Wesley will be a better Edward Cullen in my imagination. And it is not only me who think like that! There are a lot of people said so too. He has the eagle mysterious eye than Rob Pat. And not to mention Elena's normal mind which is don't want being a vampire in the first time meeting Stefan.
I love their act:
- Nina Dobrev's double character: Elena and Katherine. She can make me believe that it is two different people! Mischievous Katherine and Innocent Elena. She can make me hate Katherine and sympathetic with Elena
- Damon Salvatore's Bad Attitude for Good Thing: Maybe there will be a lot people disagree with me, but I think Damon is the best man in the series. In the first and second season we can see how bad Damon, even I don't like him! But in the new series I can understand why he is become bad. As you can read, Damon loves Elena, like Stefan loves Elena. Stefan will give everything what Elena's want, but Damon, Damon will give everything the best for Elena even it has to make him a bad guy in front of Elena. If I were Elena, for sure I will choose Damon over Stefan! Who is with me? (^o^)/
- Stefan's Mysterious And Dependable Attitude: As I said before, if you prefer a guy who will give everything you want, even it is not good for you, I think you'll love Stefan. ^^
If you feel Twilight is out of your mind or not matching with your imagination for vampire, you can choose to watch The Vampire Diaries. There are a lot of hot guys in this series too besides Damon and Stefan. And I love the story line that told us, antagonist not always being bad and protogonist not always being good (you know what I mean?). It is always make me curious what is the end? Because bad people in this series has reasonable background why they being bad and sometimes they being good too and vice versa with the good people.
2. Being Human
There is two version of being human, UK version and US version. I am watching the US version.
Being Human UK version
Being Human US version
"Three twenty-somethings share a house and try to live a normal life despite being a ghost, a werewolf, and a vampire."
This week, being human have just wrapped up their third season. One season in this series consist of 12 or 13 episodes. This series is teaching us about accept our self, the good side or the bad side. We must to be careful of what we wish for and trying to learn to live with it. Even when you are a monster, you have to learn to make a peace with the fact that you are a monster.
Beside that, I love how the chemistry of the three main character in here: Josh, Aidan, and Sally. They are portraying what a true friendship is! I just wish I could find a friend like them, who will accept us whatever we are and support us, taking care each other.
What I love about Aidan is he is always prioritize his friends. He doesn't want to involved his friend with his problem, but he always there when Sally or Josh need him. As you can read in picture, he is a vampire. And being a vampire make him beautifully handsome. So he is a lady killer. In this series you can find Aidan with A LOT of girls! It is not he is a player, but I don't know why, but a lady who loves him always found dead in the end. And despite he is a vampire, he is a family man. He actually want to have a son, but it always failed. They tend to be dead. I don't know, maybe the writer wants Aidan to be forever alone?
Josh is a werewolf. He is a caring and umm.. can you say, Otomen? Otomen is a guy who capable of cooking and doing woman's home doing. He is leaving his old life behind because he become a werewolf (even his fiancee with wedding day is in count!) Now he is trying to make peace with his wolf side. I can't say much about him, but he is humorous, innocent, and willing to kill people for the one who he love and cherish.
Sally is a ghost. She lived in a house that Josh and Aidan rent. Aidan and Josh renting the house from Sally fiancee, Danny. She is dead because fall from the stair (and believe me, you won't predict it before her accident is why. One word, don't believe what Danny said!). She is bumbling, beautiful, cheerful, and straight forward. I love Sally character because she is funny!
That is two TV series that I keep watching till now. What is your favorite American TV series?
